How It Works

4-wire resistive touch sensors are created by coating a flexible plastic (optical quality polyester) film and chemically hardened glass with a nearly invisible super-thin layer of metal. These two surfaces  are separated by extremely small transparent separator dots which act like insulating springs, maintaining an even distance between the two metallic coated layers.

A small electrical current of 4-6 volts DC at less than 60 milliampsMa) is passed through the metallic-coated layers. When
pressure is applied to the surface, the separator dots allow the two charged surfaces to make contact. The
resultant signal is then sent to our controller which determines the exact point of contact and registers the
"touch" as a mouse would register a "click".
