WARNING: DISCONNECT ALL POWER AND ALLOW SYSTEM TO SIT IDLE FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES BEFORE WORKING ON YOUR MONITOR
Installing ezscreen® kits for CRTs
Step Two: Removing the Monitor's Front Bezel
With the monitor's rear housing now removed, you can now locate items which may be hiding the bezel's (the front half of the monitor housing) main screws.
There are often outputs and jacks which have their
mounting boards located in the corners of the bezel. These will have to be removed in
order to access the screws holding the bezel and/or simply separate the bezel. You usually
won't need to disconnect the wiring here, only the small screws which hold them on.
The main
bezel screws are located in the four corners of the bezel. You need to remove these in
order to separate the bezel from the CRT and chassis.
You will also
need to remove the chassis support frame from the bezel. The screws (usually four) should
be marked so you won't confuse them with others of different length when it comes time to
reassemble your monitor. The ground wires (usually silver in color and unsheathed) are
connected here and will need to be disconnected from the bezel.
Once all the wire and
screws have been marked and disconnected, they should be taped into place on the CRT or
chassis to avoid interference when removing the bezel. Double check to make sure there are
no more switches, jacks or wires to interfere with the bezel removal.
